Alcohol based products are only effective whilst the alcohol is still moist, normally just a few seconds. Some products, even though labelled as ‘alcohol free’ instead contain lower levels of alcohol or other actives that can create other problems such as PHMB, which is a suspected carcinogen, and has been banned from a number of products.
